NGC 4565 is an edge on galaxy with dusty lanes in the constellation Coma Berenices (Berenice's Hair). It shines at a magnitude of 9.6 and is 12' x 1.5" in size. It is 31 million light years distant.
Taken with the 12" LX200 at f/6.3 and SBIG ST-8E with AO7. This image is a composite of nine 5 minute exposures binned 1x1. Processed with CCDSharp. It has also been shrunk by 30% to reduce some noise.
Taken on May 7, 2002 from my home in Monmouth Oregon (Mistletoe Observatory).
