NGC 6946

NGC 6946 is a face on spiral galaxy with bright knots found in the constellation Cepheus. It shines with magnitude 8.9, and is 10 arc-min in size.

12" LX200 at f/6.3 and SBIG ST-8E.

This image is a composite of three 10 minute luminance, two 10 minute red, two 10 minute green, and three 10 min blue frames.  Used an 11.2 magnitude guide star south of the galaxy.  The color frames were binned 2x2.  It was color balanced to 1.15 : 1.00 : 2.05.

Taken on September 23, 2000 from my backyard in Monmouth Oregon.
