NGC 7380 is an emission nebula found in the constellation of Cepheus (the King of Ethiopia). It is at a distance of 7200 light years, and spans 26 arc-min of sky. Discovered by Caroline Herschel in 1787.
The image above was taken with the 12" LX200, AO7, and ST-8E camera at f/6.3 on Aug 29 and Aug 30 during the 2003 Oregon Star Party. It is an RRGB image (as detailed below) with a total exposure time of 2 hrs 40 min. Calibration and alignment were done in MaxIm DL. RRGB layering was done with Photoshop.
