The Saturn Nebula (NGC 7009) is an irregular planetary nebula (nova remnant) in Aquarius. It shines at magnitude 8, and has a size of 1.7 arc-min.
This is an LRGB color shot. The luminance image was
a composite of four1 minute and three 2 minute exposures. The
color parts are; four 1 minute red, four 1 minute green, and ten
1 minute blue exposures. The equipment was the 12" LX200 at
f/10 with the 616 filter wheel and the 416XT CCD. Taken Sept 10, 1999 at
the Oregon Star Party.
